Not gonna lie, this one is an easy list for me – I geek out over a good business book, and try to read at least one new one every month. But seriously, when it comes to marketing tips, ideas for small businesses, and general books to get you amped about your new internet marketing company (I’m looking you my app developers & e-commerce stars), sometimes a good book just puts you in the mood to get shit done.

So roll-up your sleeves and get ready to flip the pages with our monthly look at books we’re UH-bsessed with and will read more than once in our life time.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

I was introduced to this book by an entrepreneur, self-made millionaire when I was barely 23. It took me another two years to pick it up. Since… I have read this book every January to reset my business goals, mind and know that I too, can think and grow rich.

The overarching theme is perfect for anyone from budding entrepreneurs to small business owners to CEOs alike. While some of the references are dated, this book was written in the early 1900s, the message stands the test of time: If you dream it, you can achieve it.

Pick it up, read it, then read it again.

You are a Badass & You are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero

To me, this is the “Think and Grow Rich” for the modern day. I first read You are a Badass after a marketing agency from a former job sent it our way as part of their pitch (genius move by the way). Jen Sincero’s candidness and willingness to get real about just how awesome people are, will make you feel (well) like a total badass.

Her following book, “You are a Badass at Making Money,” is even more of a must-read. If you are a recent grad, small business owner, freelancer, consultant, or anyone who just needs a kick in the money motivation butt, read this book. Jen tackles the ever so uncomfortable topic of money and makes you feel like (you guessed it) are a badass at making money.

Crushing It by Gary Vaynerchuk.

Before you roll your eyes at me about the Gary Vee bandwagon, this guy is legit. He is real as you can get, and wants you to be too. For me, when I first heard him speak I thought – “yes, this guy totally gets what its like to be really F*ing real.” The first day I picked this book up I read 100 pages. Somewhere between Gary’s “truth” and the reality that there are people out there crushing it, you’ll find the book hard to put down.

So, there you have it – my top three books of the month. I’ll be back next month to share three more that should be on the top of your reading list if you want to crush it with your small business plans and marketing.

Oh, and we’re taking a break from our Friday favorites this week on account of the Fourth of July holiday. We hope you enjoy some time doing whatever you love this week!
